Pediatrics
The department is located on the 3rd floor and is one of the important model departments in terms of modern medical and nursing services for children from birth until the age of eighteen. 30 pediatricians pay utmost attention to the care of newborns and children with various diseases.
The newly refurbished pediatric suite offers children high quality care in a friendly and family environment with a colorful play area, books and a TV zone.
The medical staff includes doctors with more than fifteen years of experience, three specialists in hematology and oncology, three specialists in neonatal medicine, two neurologists, one nephrologist, a pulmonologist, a gastroenterologist and a cardiologist.
The department also offers a 3-year post-graduation training program, at the American University of Beirut and the Beirut Arab University and has been approved in 1986 by the Arab Council for Health Specialties. It also provides a newborn fellowship program at Beirut Arab University.
Newborn Nursery
For more than --- decades and the newborn nursery is serving the community by providing well baby care to healthy newborns and their mothers. It located in the second floor of the hospital next to the delivery suite. Our experienced medical and nursing staff will provide exactly the level of care new parents want and need. After the delivery we make every attempt to keep newborn and his/her mother together as much as possible and encourage breastfeeding and mother-infant bonding. Tests provided for newborns include hearing test as per the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation, Hepatitis B vaccination, Newborn Screening and Circumcision for male newborns.
Pediatric Emergency Department (ED)
The Pediatric ED is located in the ground floor of the hospital. A pediatric team manages a variety of emergent pediatric cases. The team consists of pediatric residents covering the ED 24/7, and weekly on call Pediatric attending physicians of various specialists.
Pediatric Outpatient Department (OPD)
The Pediatric OPD at Makassed Hospital is one of the most important outpatient departments of the region. It serves around 2400 children yearly. The health services offered by our OPD to the children include but not limited to: General pediatrics, well baby clinic and immunization, pediatric endocrinology, neonatology, developmental behavioral pediatrics, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, nutrition, inborn errors of metabolism, neurology, hematology/oncology, nephrology, pediatric cardiology, psychiatry, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric allergy immunology.
