Orthopedic surgery is a medical art that addresses the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries of the limbs and spine. Our division in Makassed general hospital has been providing such service to the community for several decades now, with great dedication and success.
Makassed general hospital is located in a part of Beirut with bustling businesses & traffic where accidents leading to musculoskeletal trauma and fractures is a very common presentation at our emergency department thus increasing the urgent demand for access to our services all throughout the year. The affiliation with the UNHCR has significantly increased our trauma case load & has directed the demand for orthopedic care from our fellow syrian refugees from all over the country.
Patients with cold & chronic musculoskeletal conditions of various presentations also can find the required treatment options readily available after consulting with any of our consultant physicians in the private clinics.
Our staff is trained & skilled in most of the orthopedic disciplines providing the necessary care for all patients.
Even in the time of disasters & calamities throughout lebanese history, such as the Beirut Port Explosion in 2020, Makassed has made itself readily available with its doors open to all the injured in service of our country & fellow citizens.

Education :
Our mission though is not only about treating patients, but it is also about teaching & launching adept new orthopedic surgeons yearly, after 5 years of intensive surgical & medical training. The availability of the resident staff renders the hospital's services more available 24/7, with skill level sufficient to tackle the most urgent patients' needs. Our affiliation with Beirut Arab University (BAU) has been a fruitful and steady partnreship despite all the challenges, providing us with young doctors who are eager to learn and advance in the art of orthopedics to eventually graduate & become colleagues in the profession.
After several generations of orthopedic surgery graduates, the Makassed family is very proud of its accomplishments.
